Google-Extended
Google-Extended is a web crawler operated by Google to collect content for AI products including Gemini. It is separate from Googlebot and can be independently allowed or blocked.
In detail
Introduced in 2023, Google-Extended lets publishers control whether Google uses their content for AI training and AI-generated answers, independent of Google Search ranking. Blocking Google-Extended will not affect your Google Search rankings — but it may prevent your content from appearing in Google AI Overviews and Gemini responses.
